Today I spent the afternoon at McGivney School in Detroit, a strict disciplinary academy where my dear friend and one of our drummers Ryan Looney is principal. I interviewed some of his students and teachers for a series on education for my column and took a bunch of pictures.
Donations. Last year they received ten thousand sweatshirts. They have one hundred students.
There is a chapel next door that Ryan has the keys to. This is how he blows off steam.

Ryan doesn’t know who put up this tree but he’s glad someone did.
“Without her, I’d be screwed,” Ryan says.
Then Ryan got food poisoning from a 4-piece chicken mcnugget and barfed in his office.
